At CES 2018, TiVo announced that they are going to bring Google Assistant and Alexa soon. If you have a TiVo DVR, you will be able to control it via voice command with Alexa or Google Assistant.
The voice commands will be little bit different for both Alexa and Google Assistant users. PCMag has mentioned that Google Assistant users will have more powerful commands than Alexa. Using Alexa, you can use simple commands like select, play and record. The Google Assistant commands are reportedly more advanced like you can use normal language to the Google Assistant to search for any upcoming program or recordings.
One more important announcement is that you will be able to connect IFTTT with TiVo. You can setup different IFTTT (if this then that) automation services like play the TV when smart lock is unlocked, mute it if any incoming call received, show the incoming message directly on the TV etc. IFTTT has a lot of pre programmed applets. You can choose from these or create your own.
All of these updates : Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT support will start rolling out within next few months. So, we all need to be patient.
